This is a quote from James Cann, Business Secrets, Internet Marketing - IPhone App:

"I think one of the biggest forces in business today is the impact of the internet as a tool to market a business. Internet marketing has become one of the most powerful activities a business can leverage. The impact of Google and Google Ad Words to generate revenue and to generate customers is one of the biggest shifts we've seen in modern times.

As a business leader, you need to think about the content and the impact of your website. Many businesses that we meet perceive that their website is a brochure, which in theory is correct, but in reality the big fundamental difference between a brochure and a website is that a brochure is fixed and a website is variable, always updating. I can change my website and enhance it daily, but I can't add to my brochure on a daily basis.

Most small businesses who are not very savvy when it comes to technology produce a website and leave it there for 2 to 3 years, like they do with a brochure. Whereas I think they should almost be reviewing their website every month.

Every single month something happens in your business. Maybe you've won an amazing new customer, maybe you've had an amazing testimonial, maybe you've hired a new individual, maybe you've launched a new product. Everything dynamic which is happening in the business should be visible throughout your website. Because your website is your shop window and you should constantly be looking at your shop window and asking yourself the question, 'Is that the best window on the high street?'.

And if its not, then clearly you have a lot of customers walking past and not bothering to come in. I would urge any business to make sure that they invest time, energy and money in making sure their shop window is the best that it can possibly be." James Cann.

This is what I have been saying for years and I can't agree more, especially with the recent statistics reporting high street retailers not doing so well and online purchases increasing year on year.
